Bitcoin

Bitcoin continues to rise and so does the anticipation for the launch of bitcoin futures. CME had released that they are planning to release bitcoin futures on December 18th. CBOE then raised them one and released a statement saying they will be releasing their version on December 10th. There are a few differences in the contract specifications you will need to be aware of. The first being the size of the futures contract. CMEs product will be 5 bitcoins while CBOEs contract will be just 1 bitcoin. The other thing you will want to be aware of is the initial margin requirement. We were told from CBOE that their initial margin will be set at 44%. We have yet to have final word on the margin for the CME futures. Some trading firms are taking an extra step of precaution and waiting 24-48 hours before making the products available to clients due to the likely hood of high volatility in a yet to be tested market. Due to gray areas in regulations, we will be waiting until the products launch date before making our daily technical analysis available. Please let us know if you have any questions.
